in need of A smart person

i have an A with belly mower that has run well and started easily for 5 years, with the exception or 2 blown D-21's...but that's another story. I was recently cutting and just lost a little power in mid-cut, basically had to drop down a gear from normal and still bogged down easily. suspecting only 3 cylinders firing, I checked plugs first and found a little oil on 2 of them so i changed them and made a note to check oil level. I already had a points, condenser, rotor kit so i did that too. the oil was significantly overfull, how i did that i don't know but i dropped her to the low petcock and then added a quart. now the problem... i can't even get it to start! here are the things ive tried:
set points twice with .020 feeler
checked condenser conections twice
pulled each plug and found spark in all when touched to the frame
did the thumb test on compression and all 4 seemed about the same
cleaned air filter and put in new oil
confirmed that gas gets to carb - leaks out when choke left on
also, there is no apparent engine sound change or difference in exhaust properties
HELP!
I don't know what to check next!
When i unbolted the mag. to replace the condenser could i have messed up the timing? also, if i get her to start, any thoughts on the lost power?
SORRY THIS IS SO LONG, BUT I WANTED TO GIVE ALL THE FACTS...ANY THOUGHTS ARE APPRECIATED. Im no mechanic but no dummy either, also, i take citicism well, and know when to follow the advice of those wiser than i am. thanks in advance.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
