Ok, here is the problem. I just purchased a 1952 Cub and have know idea what I am doing. I purchased the Service Manual and Operators Manual and started doing the regular maintenance. The battery would not start the tractor after the first time each day. So I installed a new 6v battery. However the problem continued. So I read the old postings and change the old battery cables I used 2 gauge cable. Then I changed all the plug cables, coil, distrubutor cap, rotor, points, plugs and contensor. Closed up everything. You guessed it,dead. The starter makes a noise but that is it. So what did I do? I have some questions. Which plug cable going on the #1 cap hole, is it the 1 plug I had trouble seeing it in the book? Did I put the wires in the wrong spot? The coil has a positive and negitive pole I put the wire from the side of the distributor to the positive pole assuming it was the ground wire was this correct? When setting the gap on the points I put the rotor in the #1 position I was not sure but is that the highest point? The point were the gap is the largest? Did I not put the plug wires into the distributor all the way? I could not check all these things becuase the battery went dead. Please help me get this great tractor running again.
