It does not hurt to burn gasoline in the engine at all. The small tank was to put gasoline in. You started the tractor on gasoline and let it warm up. When the engine got to running temperature, you would shut off the valve to the small gas tank and open the valve to the large tank with the distillate or kerosene. I don't think anyone runs these old devils on kerosene any more. I know I have 1 M and one H set up for kerosene, and I run both on gasoline. The hand clutch would be handy if you needed live power on the pto. I've always wondered, does the hand clutch make the liftall live also? I would guess in SE Ohio a tractor in that shape would be worth $1000 to $1500. I have seen them for more and I have seen them for less. A lot of it has to do with what you want to pay, and more importantly, what the other guy bidding wants to pay. Good luck on your first tractor. My first was an M as well.
