Greetings: Consider commenting on your choice for the best IH/Farmall utility tractor within the specifications listed below. I presently have a 1973 Cub and a 1940 Farmall A. It is time to consider adding a tractor with more versatility. Do not get me wrong. My current tractors are great and perform many jobs admirably, but they have their limits. It would be nice to have a tractor with the following. 20-50 HP range Either three point hitch or ability to easily adapt to 3 pt Front loader, or ability to add (for < $1,000 +) IPTO Live hydraulics Power steering Replacement parts Cost less than $4,000 (am I dreaming?) Some of the IH models that come to mind follow. I am aware that not all models listed come with the above mentioned attributes. 240 Utility 300, 340, 350 Utility 404 Utility 504 Utility The tractor would be used around a 9 acre plot of land that has minimal hills. It would snow plow (maybe snow blow), brush hog, move dirt, plow and disk garden, post hole dig, etc. In other words, the usual small land owner tinkering. I am also considering other tractors that are not utilities such as a Super M, 300, 400 series. I suspect they are more numerous and therefore, less costly. Any and all constructive comments are most welcome. Douglas Stockman Penfield, NY
