Dual Range Gears

I recently bought a Super M and it seems to have a couple of things that don't show up in the manuals.
1. It has power steering which looks like it came from the factory but maybe it's an aftermarket package.
2. It has a high and low range. There's a knob on a cable linkage - at the right side base of the steering post - which goes into the transmission housing. When the knob is pushed in, the tractor is in a lower range. I don't believe it's what's referred to as a torque amplifier but I don't see any reference to a dual range gear set. Any ideas?
