We had a similar problem in 1972 when a freak storm went through and dumped 8 or 10 inches of rain. The adult martins all had nests full of young birds and when I came home from work my said
there's something wrong in the martin house. She said there's a terrible odor when near the martin house. I pulled the martin house down and all the baby birds had probably drowned. I never had any birds after that. I threw out the martin house that I had built and we bought 3 more at different times, still never had a bird.

I told her if we wanted to get birds we would need to move. I know how you feel losing those birds. Hal
