H 12 volt conversion, or, duh what kind of car is that?

I'm in the process of converting my 42 H to a 12 volt system. She will probably never be a show tractor, what with the cracked & welded block (that was done before I got her & was painted over.).
Anyway back to the point, when I try to get a 12 volt coil the kid behind the counter always says,"duh what kind of car is that?".
Does anyone know the make & model of car that would be the best to ask for? ie "I need a coil for a 78 lincoln clown car without ac" or something like that Thanks
