Super A backfire after shut down

I've had this early Super "A" (1948 #250556) for 20 years, I mow about 3 acres of lawn each season, and I just love it to death. I've have restored it twice, & know this tractor inside & out. However it does one thing that pisses me off, after I work it a while, and it gets good and warm and I shut it off, I can count on one loud, ear splitting, back fire almost every time, usually about 3 seconds after I shut it off. I can expect it almost every time. I've had the head off, changed the plugs, timed it, and it still does it, and has for as long as I've owned it. Other than that It's been a wonderful, economic, trouble free, strong running tractor, with this one little annoyance, any ideas?.....DDG
