at close to full charge, you are probably going to still get the "dance." Every time you shut down and restart, you're using enough current to take the battery down just below full charge, and the VR will "pass" the current. If you are well enough into "discharge", the VR will allow the current flow through the ammeter to be steady. Near full charge, the VR will equivocate, and play the dance with the ammeter. If you want steadier, you could go for an electronic VR, but then the "Great-and-Powerful Oz" would assume you have violated some Farmall code, and not let you sleep.RKS
