Another charging followup. Found the culprit

I got suspicious because the amp needle was bouncing around. I pulled the cover off the vr. This one has two sets of points. The one set opens as you shut down. The other set is the charging ones. Sure enough the points were not quite closing and I could see it sparking. So I made an adjustment on the spring tab and all of a sudden I had a steady 10 amp charge.

So I am still positive ground and everything is charging correctly.
