Actually Steven, on a New overhaul such as yours their are a number of things one has to keep in mind. When those valves were ground, the seats and valve were resurfaced. Which means they have to find a new mating surface. This over a period of time hammers that valve down on the seat creating a pocket as such in the valve, tending to come closer to the tappet. On a new overhaul I always gave them an extra .003 thousandths. This was with the radiator covered and really hot, and adjusted with the engine running. With the engine running you may be surprised at how many you adjusted will still be tight. I know it's an old mechanics trick that nobody does any more but believe me it works. Good luck. Neal
