welding oil pans

I got an oil pan from a 10-20 that had a smack in the corner that had oil seeping out, not to bad but wanted to fix it.I took pan off and took the dent out and atemped to bronze the break,about a 1/2 inch by the time the dent was taken out,but every time it cooled down it would crack.Know I feel I'am a good welder when it comes to bronzing.what procedure do you sugest so it dont crack.Thanks!!
