Dave when you look at the back side of the light switch, make sure that yellow wire is going to the very bottom bolt next to the flat resistor. Yellow wire should go to the field post on the generator. The blue wire goes from the bat terminal on the voltage regulator to the negative post on the ampmeter. That same post should have the wire going to the lights and to the coil switch. You should also have a wire going from the A or gen post on the generator to the gen post on the voltage regulator. The curled resistor on the upper portion of the switch is for dimming the lights.
