If you have to choke it to get it to run then it is running too lean, the choke richens the mix.

If it runs fine when it is cold and quits when it warms up you have an ignition problem. I would put on new points and condensor to start. If that doesn't fix it then you probably need a new coil.

Just went through this with an old Dodge pickup, same symptoms, it was the coil.
