I'm not much help on troubleshooting, but if you decide to rebuild it, I've rebuilt both my pump and my complete ram unit. So far both are working good. If you have any questions about the rebuild, e-mail me or post. It might help us if post any other symptoms, fluid loss, obvious leaks, noises from the pump or ram unit, ect. The more details the better. Also, if you don't see any obivous leaks, it's possible your losing oil into the crankcase through the pump.
