After helping the neighbor replace timing gears on his M (same pump as you) a couple years ago, I decided that the timing gears were not designed to handle the stress. I have also seen a couple of tractors on auctions where they accidentally dead-headed the pump and broke the gears too. With a belt drive, if the pump ever gets dead-headed or anything else goes wrong the belt will just slip. As for the cooler, I will put it on if it will fit easily. I don't feel that a 2 gallon reservoir is large enough for a 12 GPM pump. Heat is the enemy of all oils, cooler is better. Also, with live hydraulics, what use would a person have for the liftall? All that it would be is another pump robbing a couple more horsepower from the tractor. By the way, do you run the tractor like that? Wouldn't it ruin the pump to run without oil, or dead-head and break gears if there was oil in the pump?
