I hate starter trouble!

So what gives with the starter in my '56 300U, I have replaced the Bendix at least four times in the last three years and this tractor is not used all that often.It starts very easy and is not being ground on. It's a six volt starter being fed Twelve but I'm doing the same thing with a Case and an Oliver and have had no starter trouble in ten years. I'm now going to replace the entire starter, anyone know of a 12 volt unit that will fit, or should I be Ok with another NEW 6 volt ? Thanks...Boomer
