It is a cutout relay, and the brushes are in good shape. Could I have bad connections to the brushes? Last time I looked at the generator, those little wires seemed pretty poor. I have hooked a lead to the BAT terminal of the cutout, closed the points, and put current through. It spun like a motor, and the brushes sqeaked on the commutator bars. I hope that means the coils inside the generator are good.
