Ludwig, Read your post and I agree it will fry the regulator if you leave the wires connected to the regulator. However, the instructions were to disconnect the wires from the regulator PRIOR to making momentary contact. I too have a pamplet that came with a new regulator and it states the instructions as you referenced. My more modern 12 volt reference books also state to momentarily jumper from GEN/ARM to BAT. On the otherhand, my old 6 volt reference book states as I posted and it warns of causing regulator point problems by using other than the stated procedure. I will do some follow up research when time permits. Continue to proof read as I do not want someone to foul up due to my oversight. Thanks.
