Motor oil in 140 hydraulics reservoir?

The fellow I bought my 140 from said to put motor oil in the hydraulics reservoir. I have never heard of this before. The 140 has 2 way hyrdraulics, with front and rear arms.

Do I want to change it to hydraulic fluid? If so, do I just drain and refill?
