I just replaced my main bearings in my H. The first thing I did was to get a manual. The second thing was to keep my bearing caps in their proper position.(VERY IMPORTANT). The third thing was I checked my bearings with plastigauge before and after installation. (Put plastigauge between the cap and the bearing and retorque caps). I charted all gaps on paper so I wouldn't forget. This allowed me to see the gap between the bearing and the crank. Then I removed the the upper bearings with a thin strip of metal that would flex around the crank. Look at the back of your bearings to see what size they are. STD, .002. Remember that the gap clearance spec. calls out .001 - .003 If the gap is larger than .003 than you should put in oversize bearings. Replace all bearings and lube well while installing. Put your caps on and torque to spec. and you should be ready to go. It's not hard just time consuming. Hope this helps.
