Rear Axel Seals M

The rear axel seals are leaking on my 48 M. I ordered the seals and finally got the rear wheels off. So I pulled off the first seal cover and the new seals I got are different from the originals. The originals have a rubber seal with a steel back on it. Then there is a felt pad sqeezed between the steel back of the seal and the retainer cover. the new seal is like a normal bearing seal. Even if I had the felt it wouldn't work cause the seal doesn't have the steel back on it to hold the felt. Did I get the wrong seal or is this the new type? Do I still use the felt? Thanks in advance for any advice.
