Stan, here's what you did. You provided full current to the electromagnets in the "field" of the generator causing the generator to max charge. The contacts I told you to manually close, closed automatically due to the charge provided to the solonoid that pulls these contacts together. The main thing is that the contacts separated when you shut the tractor off, indicating that when the voltage dropped, the contacts opened as they should. You "woke-up" that solonoid is what you did. Now, you can adjust the "field" solonoid inside that regulator so as to provide more charge so it can keep things going when the lights are on. Play with this notion with the engine running and someone watching the gauge. Curt
