Thanks for the post, Stan. To my unpracticed eye, it looks original. Things just look like they fit to this rookie. And the model number on the plate under the seat is definitely A, not SA, and serial number FAA17993, which would make it a 1940, I think, if it were an A. But it just doesn't look that ancient. I can't really tell if the seat's original. It may be a replaced A seat, I guess, as someone suggested. The number behind the oil filter and just below the plugs is 251068 R1. There's a number on top of the front right hydraulics: 8530 DD. Another number on the block just under the rear end of the gas tank: 354352 R1, and below that 12 12 T. Or it might be 2 2 T. Just below and to the right of that is MF, written as if it were a cattle brand, the right side of the M and the left side of the F forming the same line. The last numbers I've found are farther back, just left of the clutch pedal on the lowest block, written upside-down: 351687 R3, and below and just to the right of that: 2 20. Thanks very much for your help! If I can straighten this out, I'll know which manuals to buy, for one thing. Bill
