charging system howzit

Ok, am perplexed. Got new generator bearing and bushing for my "A" at local NAPA along with new voltage regulator. Have read about connecting things to the "BAT", "F", "L" and "A" terminals. My regulator has bat, f, and l but no A labeled. So am I right in assuming the A terminal is the one underneath the regulator without a label? Also, the old light switch has a bunch of resistors etc. built into it. Do you need the light switch electronics with the new regulator with 4 terminals on it? Thanks for any help.
