Howdy I was reading Scotty's reply to the M clutch replacement below, and had to write my thoughts on IH manuals, parts books etc. I have only bought 2 manuals for my M so far and don't know if I want to try any more. I had a bad oil leak at the left front of the engine oil pan, simple job, put it back together (with new gasket from NAPA $10.00, friendly dealer wanted $25.00 for gasket) same leak, what the heck? I could see no reason for a bad leak at that location? I have seen several M's with the same leak, so I bought some books and did some reading, they said be sure to reinstall 2 long bolts in same location as they were removed from??? I'm thinking in the past 60 years it is possible that someone may have gotten them in the wrong holes. Books don't give a clue. It's stuff like that, that makes me wonder if I want to spend another $30.00 for a reprint book no thicker than a comic book and the text is incomplete and the illustrations are so blurry they are useless. When I worked at the Buick dealership in the '70s, the owner took on International light trucks franchise. It turned out to be a disaster, the factory was only able to deliver a few trucks of our initial order, the initial parts order just dribbled in a little at a time and after months of complaining to the factory we got in a load of used parts books without covers, pages missing, all dog eared and dirty. After selling one pickup and one Travelall the owner was able to get out of the franchise agreement. I guess my point is, if IH wasn't able to come up with decent books 40 years ago I guess there is still no hope. Anybody know for sure where those 2 long bolts go ? Bob S.
