im helping a freind out with a 1947 cub he just purchased. he has no oil pressure.the tractor sat idle for a long time and was sold at auction not running. we split the tractor last night and removed the pump cover but really didnt see anything worn out there. we checked the bypass valve. we put a can of oil up to the pickup tube and cranked the engine over with no results.we primed the pump through the oil filter and got a little bit of pumping then. the rod bearings have some play.will these pumps pick up without prime when first overhauled? the gentleman that owned this tractor passed away so we dont have a clue what he did but it was all painted and you could tell it had not run in awhile.any advice would be appreciated.thanks for now, russ
