B serial numbers missing

I started working on my Father-in-laws B this month. And I can"t find a serial number. There is no sign of a plate or anything on the seat brackets and the inch and a half by one half-inch tag on the lower right crankcase (held on with two bolts) is blank. The radiator doesn"t even have a drain cock. It has the narrow front with 2 wheels. It’s been on the same farm since at least 1949. Any ideas where to go from here? I need the serial number when I search for parts. Thanks Jeff
