Hello, Was wondering if the ring gear on a 656 gas can be flipped when one side gets bad or if the gear is only good to use on one side. Had a friend over this weekend, another red tractor fellow. Decided to change the ring gear on my 656 as it would grind all the time when trying to start. Was going to replace it but heard that it could be flipped if it hadn't already. When we removed the gear it was badly worn on one side and flat and unused on the other. However when it was all reassemled, with a rebuilt starter, It would grind still and also the starter would hang up and we couldn't stop it until we unhooked the battery. Thought the new starter might be bad but it tested ok.The starter man said that the flywheel has to have a slight bevel to the gear in order to work, which it didn't. Do I need to replace it with a new one? Thanks for the help.YC
