656 Tach Reading Off

Ever since we bought a new 656 2 years ago the tach doesnt seem to read correctly. I will crank the tractor wide open, and the tach is still below pto speed, however my ear says it is above pto speed. Is there something in these that need calibrated, or is there a gear that can be changed out like in a speedometer? Thanks Mike
