A week ago today we had quite a vicious electrical storm. In the middle of it I lost phone service, or at least I thought that at first. Later that day I discovered if I unpluged computer from phone jack, the phones would work. Off to the computer shop for a new modem. By the weekend, got the computer back, but it wont stay on line very well, most of the time. This seems to be the worst if sending or downloading e mails. Twice while checking settings, we have received a message, "poor line quality". Our ISP tells us we our computer settings are fine and it should work. Phone company tells us they will check lines next week. We have our phone and internet service both from Bell. For about a year they were flogging numerous other products. I've never felt Bell lines in this area were great, we have phone answering that sometimes works. I told them just yesterday, you didn't get to sell us more services, as you haven't given good service on what we have. Is it time to go the satalite route? Any advice would be appreciated. Contrary to what I usually do, I am not clicking e mail on this. Also could any of you folks that send me e mails hold off until I get to the bottom of this. This thing seems to function best when no e mail are coming or going. Thanks
