Hey guys, Im looking for a little help on this. Been scratching my head and Im against the wall. Ive got a 1958 Farmall 350 row crop and a 1957 International 350 utility. Both are shorting points like crazy. Ive ordered the petronix electronic ignition kit for one of them... to try it out. But Im fuzzy on how to connect it. Both are 12 volt "positive ground" with 12 v battery with positive post going to ground on the frame, 12v generator, 12v starter and 12 v lights. I want to update the utility first which has "no external resister". The wire that feeds the points connects to the negitive side of the coil. While on the row crop (with external resister) it connects to the positive side of the coil. Whats the difference? Does it not matter which side of the coil goes to the distributor? Ive ordered the 12v positive ground kit that shows the utility is right, but the wiring diagram in the manuals show the row crop is correct. HELP!!! Also if I install the petronix kit on the row crop later on will I need a new coil that does not have an external resister...and discard the old resister? If so which side of the coil would go to the distributor? Thanks in advance for you help...

Experimentation, from the most complex assembly to the most simple and mundane component, is as an integral a part of any farm tractor's development
