For a (+) ground system (battery (+) post connected to the chassis), the wire from the ignition switch, through the resistor (if used) connects to the (-) side of the coil. The (+) side of the coil connects to the distributor (breaker points and condensor). That's the way it is supposed to be, PERIOD! Now, before intstalling the PERTRONIX UNITS, you need to be SURE you have (+) ground Pertronix units, and connect them EXACTLY as shown in the Pertronix information, or you will LET ALL THE SMOKE OUT OF THEM. Be SURE to follow Pertronix's instructions, as to the lowest resistance coil you can use without a ballast resistor, as this is another thing that can let all the smoke out of the module.
