Richard: Yes your right, it was built at the same time 56 series were in production. 826 is basically the same tractor as 856 other than it was built in Europe using a German engine and had some other features not quite as delux as 856. These tractors were clearly imported to meet Deere competition, (who were doing the same) and sell for a lower price than the American built 56 series. Good tractors for the money at the time but they didn't pack the same torque as 806 or 856. Back in those days here in Canada, (being part of the British Empire) at least we had seen a lot of European tractors, many of which had been major disappointments. Large farms with a lot of acreage to cover tended to shy away from European tractors. I guess one of the bigger factors, European tractors in general were not climatized for starting in our cold Canadian winters. I know myself, I avoided anything European with an engine, as if it had the plague.
