Carb Cleaning

I've heard that you can strip the paint off a Carb. with glass bead blasting. Has anybody ever done this?, does it work good? I know not to use Sand so I was wondering what to use that will not damage the interworkings of the Carb. Will Paint stripper be safe? Thanks for any advise.
