Your alternator has nothing to with the ignition. It's purpose is to keep the battery charged. You should post a picture on how you have the tractor's ignition wired.
You need to use a test lite or volt meter to see if there's battery voltage at the ignition switch and at your coil. You can tell if the ignition is ok by pulling off a plug wire and hold it near the plug while someone makes an attempt to start your tractor. If you have fire from the plug wire you probably have fuel problems. Hal Post a picture of that alternator splice.
