I changed out the LoBoy from 6v battery ignition to 12v bat ignition, regulator, and coil. At first w/o the resistor and felt like the coil was too warm. I knew to check the labeling but I couldn't read it to help me determine if it had an internal resistor.
Without the resistor I was getting a good charge on the amp meter, with it, the dial barely moved. The resistor is inline from the positive post on the coil and to the post on the distributor.
The polarity is positive ground and the amp shows discharge, but I just need to reverse posts on the amp meter. Polarized the gen by jumping the bat to armature (gen).
I'm wondering if I'll get an adequate charge with the resistor installed? Hard for me to tell.
