I have a TD-9 (WD-9) with the newer 350 series engine. The injectors are bad and the local diesel shop wants $150 apiece for new units, as my sphincter squeaks when I walk I will probably not be purchasing new ones. Can anyone get me info on rebuilding these things, maybe a shop manual? My manuals for the older Fords give fairly detailed instructions on checking, lapping, and rebuilding their units but I cant find any info for the IH units. These units have the short nozzles in the housing, the little info I got from someone is the cracking pressure should be 690 to 710 psi and no leaking below 400psi. (I have a bench tester for checking the pressure). When I checked them the first time they looked like crap, I took them apart and lapped the stem and seat with valve lapping compound, probably to coarse, but after reassembling them they actually sealed up to 400psi fairly well and had a little bit of a pop to them when they cracked, but the spray pattern looks kinda crapy to me. If anyone could get me some info or send me in the rite direction it would be greatly appreciated.
