I’m working on my 1951 M, and it’s time for the front wheels to be painted and new tires. For some reason, the hub was welded to the rim at some point in the last 58 years. Is it worth the effort to try to save both pieces, or just one of them? Any logical reason why they were welded together?
Looking at eBay, I can get a hub for about $55, front rim for $150+, so I’m thinking this might be the end of the road for this hub, and I’ll work to save the rim and the ears on it. Does this seem right too? Are H hubs the same?
If anybody on here has either part, shoot me an e-mail.
