140 generator - please help?

Hey all... I know this type of thread has been tossed around before, so I apologize in advance... My 140 generator has stopped charging the battery. When I am running the tractor, the charge meter reads zero. After a day of field work, she won't even crank over. Is it possible my generator simply needs to be repolarized? I can't remember which terminals to jump, and the manual says not to jump any terminals at all, but I know this may be neccessary... Can anyone help?? Thanks in advance. Pete in PA
