Have a 300U that has a problem shifting into the rearward shifting gears (1st,3nd,5th). The forward shifting gears all work great (Rev,2nd,4th). Think thats pattern correct, but anyway its the rearward shifting gears anyway.
Having NO issues with getting the transmission in two gears at once just shifting. This weekend added 3 or 4 gallons of diesel to the transmission and drove it around till good and warm and drained and refilled case to the check plug.Boy,was that nasty looking stuff.
This is a NON-TA tractor from the factory.
Could the shifter tip be worn so the rearward gears are not getting engaged ? The rearward shifting gears are the ones that move the shifter rails forward. Can remove the shifter and using a screwdriver shift into the gears in question. It is kinda stubborn but no more so than the correctly shifting gears.
Does anyone have a picture or dimensions of what the correct tip should look like? That would be a great help as this is the only we have seen. Found post with a picture of a H shifter with dimensions but not sure those would be correct for a 300U.
If each set of 3 rails and forks works different gears sets and all 3 rearward gears are very hard to shift into would not the shifter be the common point of failure? Or am I totally barking up the wrong tree?
As always any advise or opinions are always welcome.
