i'm not aware of the vreg you speak of but would like to see it's schematic.
at the very least if you are doubling the voltage you will be halving the current.
keep in mind most gennies have a max rated wattage.. that can't be exceeded without thermal damage. thus a 120-180w 6v genny is still limited to 120-180w even if the volts double ( current drops.. etc. )
still.. I'd like to see the schematic. sounds like a charge pump..
