42 H,no 5th gear??

So i took out the forward left screw on the top plate to allow the 42 H to go into 5th.It came on steel so it was locked out.well it felt like it was in 5th but it didnt move.I tryed a bunch of times even with the tractor off and the fan didnt move at all when in 5th.Do you guys think it came without 5th??
