Thanks SDman! Also sitting in there was what looked like a round piece of broken casting. I noticed about ten inches up from the access plate a square plate mounted against the clutch wall which had a gasket on it but a round hole was puched through it. Do you thing that is where the fluid is coming from? The fluid that was leaking from the bottom access plate was definately trans fluid. I have been using oil but I have an oil cooler leak I want to fix before further diagnosing that problem. Thanks for your help...RR
