I currently have my loader on a stage II SM and would like to free that tractor up. I'm planning to move the loader to a regular M.
I have a PTO driven hydraulic pump sitting around and was toying with the idea of building a bearing mounted shaft with PTO splines and running the pump off of the front of the crankshaft. I believe I would need some reduction to bring the pump speed down closer to it's 540 rpm intended operating speed.
I'm wondering if someone else has done something similar. Not sure if it would be better to use a wide belt or to use a chain to drive it. I would need some way to add a pulley or gear on the front of the crankshaft.
