H Starter Button Location

I bought my second project and it honestly was/is an basketcase. Most of the electrical was gone but I have seemed to get it all back to where I can use it. But, the starter button is the problem. I have seen Hs with the bracket on the steering post across from the amp box and then some moutned on the base of the platform behind the steering post. Is there some sort of serial number break that will tell me where I need to place mine? I know that will also help in deciding what type of wiring harness to get also. Any help would be greatly appreiciated. Thanks
