I have the pump off the tractor to replace seals etc. When reassembled the pump is tight. It will turn by hand but not freely. The two bearings nearest the front each have 5 springs that fit between them and the cover. Cover bolts are tightened to 25 ft lbs as per the I&T manual. I bought the tractor a couple of years ago and am currently restoring it. Having nothing to hook to the hydraulics I don't know if they worked before disassembly or not (bad idea). The bearings have considerable wear, but I have no idea how much is too much. Is it supposed to turn freely by hand, and what are the springs for? Seems to me they would be completely compressed. Any comments appreciated, including (well sort of) "your pump is shot".
