Well the suspense was killing me so I had to go back out and look at "old red". Took gas line off at carb. It's getting gas (my keyboard now smells like gas). Looked at points. The black plastic around the rotor is grayish/white. The contacts don't look burned. Then I looked at the coil and noticed what I didn't last night. It says, "use with resistance wire or external resistor". I'm guessing that's why it died. Now how do I fix it? I really appreciate all responses I get to this problem. I'm learning a lot from you guys.
