Hi all, I have a 1946 Farmall M I am restoring. First things first, I am in Australia so it was imported back in the day.
It has a 6 volt Delco Remy starter, it has a Lucas 6 volt generator and Lucas regulator.
It has its original IHC H4 Magneto but missing the cut off switch on the tractor. Apparently Lucas generators were put on these when they came to Australia.
The wiring on the rest of the tractor looks to be really bodgied up from years of fix it's and the previous owners efforts to bypass the 6 volt and start it on a 12 volt battery with no charging circuit hooked up.
This was a mess so I have now stripped all the wiring out and ready to start afresh.
So now the question;
1. If I use the original 6v Lucas generator setup, where can I get details on the wiring loom or purchase a wiring loom and bits to suit this. Does anyone make looms for this setup?
2. If I don't use the original Lucas setup then I would still like to retain its originality by way of the original American setup and would like to know what is that 6v setup?
Geeez it's hard to get any info on this stuff.
Make sense?
Appreciate guidance from those far more knowledgable than me.
