I'm at wits end trying to get my 706 to shift in to reverse like it should. I have replaced all the bushings in the trans cover put new pins in the rod with the turn buckle on it the double ball joint is good. Little to no slop from shifter to top plate. I put new woodruff key in the range shift fork. The next thing on my list is the shaft and slide coupler(I'm trying every thing I can to prevent splitting the tractor). I guess my question is that I have seen a ad in the farmworld to fix the shifting problems in the 06 tractors. Would a new top plate help my problem or is that just snake oil for a worn out tractor????? Or is there something else I could try?????
